No dear, let me explain it to you again. This bill is the best thing that has happened to insurers, maybe EVER. They are GUARANTEED 30 million or so new customers and if the customers can't afford the coverage THE GOVERNMENT WILL PAY THE PREMIUMS (Psst....the government doesn't have any money so they're going to get it from the Chinese while we pay and pay on the ever accumulating interest on the debt). Meanwhile, there will be no reductions in insurance premiums but INCREASES instead. Oh, and your actual health care costs aren't going down either...there are additional taxes, fees and mandates to ensure that they are going no where but UP....and at a faster rate than they would be with no health care reform bill. Woo Hoo!!!
Yeah, the insurers have their panties in a twist alright.....but they're flinging them in the air while swinging from chandeliers and guzzling expensive champagne. The party is just starting.
The bill also essentially eliminates the predatory private student loan business by placing private loans in the hands of the Department of Education, which will in turn give forgiveness on student loan debt over 20 years, or 10 years to those who work in the public sector, and will save Americans a boat load on tax dollars. Which is fantastic legislation that might only be opposed by the coldest, most evil human beings in the history of life.
Umm, most student loans are private debt. Pell Grants, etc are just crumbs to the cost of education. All these loans are what drives up the cost of an education; just as easy mortgage loans drive up the cost of housing. And when these loans are 'forgiven' where does the money come from then? Everyone has an opinion, unfortunately few make any sense whatsoever.

Don't you think it's enough that we pay the benefits and pension for life???
I am all for forgiveness for the arm forces and police and fire, not for a paper pusher in the government.

Not really, the only way to require insurance companies to ignore pre-existing conditions is to also require that everyone get health care. Otherwise such a requirement would just destroy the insurance industry (people would just get insurance when they are sick). It would be like allowing people to get auto insurance after they got into an accident.
Anyhow, the Republican outrage to this bill is amusing considering a Republican governor in MA essentially implemented the same system.
There is no such thing as honest debate in this country anymore. Pathetic.
MA is an example of universal care, and it failed, I think Romney realized it failed.
Obama instead of looking at places that tried it and failed and not making the same mistakes, does exactly that.
No logic, just ideology.
