The idea that seems to be a foreign concept to Democrats is that we dont elect Congress to represent "the will of the people" Thats why we are a Representive Republic, NOT a Democracy.. A Democracy is the will of the people, and Democracies dont work because people discover at some point they can simply vote themself money.. A Democracy can shut out the minority. If we were a Democracy, blacks still would be considered 2/3rds of an individual and the Supreme Court ruling that blacks were property would still be the case today. Is this what you want? I think not!!
Just saw this after writing my previous post.
While you are right concerning democracies (see Switzerland's minaret ban), I don't get how your post is an argument against a Democratic Congress.
If anything, it's a manifest against the Republicans/Tea Partiers that claim to represent the will of the people...

Democracy is worth dying for, because it's the most deeply honorable form of government ever devised by man. Ronald Reagan
If the Republican view is that the health bill is not wanted by the majority of americans then why do 90% of the people i know support it here in Florida?
Maybe because 90% of the people you know love welfare..

My discussion on this thread was not to argue against a Democratic Congress.. It was to argue the ridiculousness of "the will of the people" part of the thread..

Despite what the pundits want us to think, contested primaries aren't civil war, they are democracy at work, and that's beautiful. Sarah Palin

Maybe its because 90% of the people i know aren't brainwashed by republican lies and propoganda.
