The District's new same-sex marriage law could become entangled, at least briefly, in the U.S. Senate debate over changes to the health care reform act that President Obama signed into law Tuesday.
Sen. Bob Bennett (R-Utah) has introduced an amendment that would suspend the issuance of marriage licenses to same-sex couples until the issue could be put before voters.
What a pathetic attempt to appease social conservatives.
Isn't in some states a medical requirement to know your blood type and family history before you get married. I wonder now that government might have control over the medical will gays get married and or be excluded for medical reason. I mean after all if gay marriage is ever legal I would think "some republicans" might find ways to thru medical reason exclude them. I just saying if ONE day "these type of republicans" get into office and can change the law over medical issues what might they think up :-)
You think about having your government controlling so much you might be surprised what you might get.
Well...as an Independent..the way I see it is that the Dems did whatever it took to get this disastrous bill passed...so the Repubs are entitled to do whatever it takes to stop it or at least tie it up...this applies to both sides...

Agreed government should be as dysfunctional as humanly possible, gridlock is awesome and worked swimmingly in the past.

Yes, true, but since the chance of this amendment passing is close to zilch, it's clearly just grandstanding and a waste of time by Bob Bennett, who is getting a primary challenge by a more conservative candidate in his state, and is desperately trying to make himself look more conservative.

As though the entire health industry & student loan takeover wasn't an attempt to appease social liberals?
