I find it strange that by not agreeing with one side (Democrat or Republican), you are automatically labeled as agreeing with the other's side. Rather ironic, since both sides are wrong about most things anyway.

The extreme partisanship that exists in politics is one reason why I don't care much for it anymore. Why is it so difficult to simply work together to reach a common goal?

There's an old adage that speaks of union in strength: a bundle of sticks is harder to break collectively than individually. I suppose that would be too easy for most career politicians to realize, though.

I see what you mean, but they wouldn't be 'extremists' if they weren't just that way you know?

i can't stand being lumped in with whomever these extreme nutters choose to vilify around here, but I also know that I'm not in the camp they think I am, so that's fine enough for me...these folks aren't the ones looking to be helpful or rational, they are just blowhards.

I can bet that hardly any of them, if any, even bother with their own local government at all. Despite all their supposed love of ideals/morals/ethics/liberty/democracy/constitution/freedom/liberty etc etc

They just sit around keyboard evangelizing for their own entertainment.

Which means then they won't be bothering us much at the city council meeting, county meetings and such!
Yay!

The goals are far from common as are the means to acheiving them

One party appears to be set upon a society based upon Socialism and dependence of the individual upon the government for needs. In this "social democracy" redistribution of wealth and restitution are the keys to "social justice" enforced and conducted by the government.Theirs is a government which exherts its power over the people, endentured subjects. Control over the people is the goal.

The other party is one that sees liberty and Constitutinal rights as being of primary importance and the personal responsibility, along with voluntary charity are they keys to helping our fellow men/women. Theirs is a government that derives its consent to govern from the people, free citizens. Keeping and maintaining a Contitutional Representative Republic is the goal.

That is why they are called extremists, it is their way or the highway. They are extreme in their way of thinking, if you don't agree with them, or their point of views, your wrong, they carry it to the extreme. But there are many extremists out there, that are extreme in there every day thinking.

Who is the extremist? The thief who steals from his neighbor? Or is it the neighbor who resists being robbed?

Why does it have to be one way or the other? My point exactly.

Politics isn't as cut and dry as many would like you to believe.

Because hardliners can't think for themselves. They depend on the party to do it for them. When one can't think for themselves or adapt they have no choice but to be only 1 way.

You are either a looter or a producer. That is why it has to be one way or the other. You either initiate force against others or you don't. Are we to imagine a "noble thief"? Strange moral ground.
