well the email is more about the religious holiday than climate, so the subject threw me off for a bit.
let's just hope he never looks up "Easter" and finds the origin of the word, Eostur-monath, a month as named after a goddess from anglo-saxon paganism -- also where the eggs and bunnies come in
it's as much a spring celebration (even the christians picked the date after the vernal) as it is jewish as it is christian.
so beck can **** off with his missives about his own unique fatwa
We commemorate the crucifiction of Christ on Good Friday. I see the spirit of those who mocked Christ then remain with us in this thread, spewing their hate towards those who believe. Some things never change.
If you, as a believer, want to do that....knock yourself out. Perhaps, though, you could explain why you (or at the very least Mr. Beck) believe that the government is obligated to said commemoration of your (his) personal beliefs?

It's less about a name and more about the MEANING we pour into it.
IMO Mr. Beck would have more credibility on this issue if he didn't (obviously) have such a problem with celebrating non-Christian holidays. Apparently he wants to have it both ways: celebrate Christian holidays, don't "observe" other religions' holidays (like the solstice, for example), and cry about it if we observe non-Christian holidays in place of Christian ones. Nice double standard there, Mr. Beck.
Mr Beck ISNT a christian, so I'm not sure where you got all of this babbling bs from..

I just found it interesting that Beck could throw a completely illogical jab at Al Gore in an Easter email. It really shows his ignorance of basic words, like "weather," "climate" and how the seasons work. Plus, we get a little insight into his feelings of guilt and shame. It's all washed away if you just ask Jesus (and, yes, attending The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints makes you a Christian) to wash it away for you. Accept Jesus and he's already taken away your guilt and shame...magically....a couple thousand years ago. Woohoo! This Christian stuff is cool! You don't have to think - just pray!
They can celebrate their holidays but why are they trying to change ours?`
Christmas is Christmas, they get a day off of work and force us to say "Happy Holidays" and now the "Holiday Tree", whats up with that?
It is Christmas and we buy Christmas trees.
Where is the crime in that?
Are they so filled with rage that we can't have a holiday?
Dec 25 has already been claimed, choose another date.
I'll probably regret getting into this discussion, but I just have to ask: WHO is trying to 'force' you to say Happy Holidays? Why can you not understand that there are people in this country that celebrate other holidays at the same time we Christians are celebrating Christmas and/or Easter? And, had you even a shred of historical education, you might realize that the Christians actually stole December 25 from the Pagans, as they were already celebrating Solstice and other holidays 2,000 years ago and that is exactly WHY it was decided that date would be used for Christmas. For pete sake! This week is not just Easter week! It's also Passover week for the Jews. Just as Chanuka usually falls in the same month as Christmas.
