doc it's how I'd like it, but when there are parents who are irresponsible (neglectful or ignorant) what exactly are the rest of us supposed to do about the situation? Do we (society) ignore a 200 lb 4th grader?
I'm all for educating people as a whole on nutrition but there's no way I'm going to have you or my neighbors or "society" impose your dietary will on me re what we eat in our home.
Trust me, I might have a few ideas about how "everyone should raise and mange their children" that you wouldn't like. Would you be open to coersion for your children's own good?

No we don't ignore a 200lb 4th grader. But we don't go nuts the other way either. What ever happened to reasonable? This is what happens when everyone is afraid to hurt someones feelings. You're a 200lb kid they should be told thats not acceptable and counseled and monitored. But we can't do that so we punish everyone. Insane.
Ironically, bread and cheese is one of the most recognized "snacks" is much of the world. But, like the Texas school who sent a girl home for possession of a Jolly Rancher candy (it broke the schools "nutritional guidelines") this is just another reminder that PEOPLE. ARE. STUPID.
It's amazing what passes for news. Americans should focus more on their own diet than an isolated lunch incident at a British pre-school. There were all sorts of incidents at my child's US Christian school, but I never considered running off to a newspaper.

Okay. Probably agree with you on this one. But it is kind of interesting. Slow day, I guess...
