Experts say prices could fall by over 50 cents a gallon by July 4; after then, everything depends on hurricane season.

NEW YORK (CNNMoney.com) -- After setting record highs less than a month ago, gasoline prices are on the way down.

Experts say motorists can expect gradually declining prices from now until July 4. After the Fourth, and barring any unforeseen event like war with Iran, the cost of gas will largely depend on how the hurricane season shapes up.

I expect gas prices to continue to rise throughout this summer and next winter so the suppliers will be able to make enough money to keep dividends up when they drop the pices in the last few months before November 2008.

I applied the brakes very abruptly Monday night with still a 1/4 tank when I saw $2.86. You would have thought I won the lottery.

87 has crept back down to 2.99 in my neck of the woods, I'd be stunned if it ever goes below 2.50 again.

Stuntman - have you noticed that CITGO seems to have the lowest prices around? Good coffee as well.

Its $2,89 a gallon at my local ARCO. It will probably hit $3,50 by May.
