So because they **might** have killed one of their own, makes it ok? Not all muslims are terrorist, but all (of these 9/11) terrorist were muslim. So building a mosque here, is in very poor taste, to say the least. If these "good" muslims that condemed the act on 9/11 really wanted people to see them in a good light, they would not build here. They know it, you know it.

I'd be interested to learn how many of the people expressing all this "outrage" are New Yorkers. Because I can tell you that here in the city, it's a complete non-issue.

Your statement is irrelevent as we are discussing a land use matter under the authority of a local municipal jurisdiction. This is not an immigration issue nor is it an issue the federal or state governments would normally engage.

With that said, I am opposed to illegal immigration and have no compelling reason to be opposed to the new Arizona law provided it is constitutional.

You are the one who brought up this being unconstiutional. They will let this go up, so the majority can be outraged so Obama has another reason to travel to his people to appologize on our behalf.

I can second that. I can also tell you that to an office full of WTC survivors who will be returning to work there again, it is a non-issue.

Re-reading the the thread title, I noticed how trollishly it's written.

A 13-story mosque "overlooking" ground zero, lolol? How does a 13-story building "overlook" something that a) is already 20 stories above street level and rising, and b) two blocks away with taller buildings in between the mosque and the WTC anyway.

And of course, it is NOT scheduled to open September 11th.

No. You are inserting your disappointment/frustration with the federal government, in particular the executive branch's, interpretation/position of an immigration law in Arizona and trying to use that as an argument in a discussion about a mosque and the application of land use law in New York City. They are not related issues.

You were that kid that everyone picked on in school weren't you? The one that thought he could have his cake and eat it to. You brought up standing behind the Constitution, but only when it benefits what you believe in?

And to answer others saying it is a non issue to New Yorkers, all my family is from New York....the ones that are not there still are against it. The ones that are there ARE against it.

In the United States of America the Constitution protects all from the bullies who 'think' it does not. Regarding what I believe - I believe in the Constitution and the rule of law.
