Good for them. All states that actually care about what their kids are learning should look into protecting themselves (from Texas)!

Sounds good to me. Let Texas do things their way, but don't let them impose their values on states that don't agree with their version of history.

I had not heard that the goal of the Texas Board of Education was to impose their values on the rest of the country. Just like I don't think the California Board of Education is trying to impose their values on the rest of the country.

It's great news that the California Board of Education will review any textbooks to be used in California public schools and make modifications to suit their population. It's also great news that the Texas Board of Education is reviewing textbooks to be used in Texas public schools and making modifications to suit their population. In fact, shouldn't it be the normal procedure for all state boards of education to review the textbooks used within their own public school systems and make modifications as necessary? Seems like a non issue - like saying, "Hey look everyone! These state agencies are doing their jobs!" (On second thought maybe that is a little unusual)

I know it would cost more money, I think when it comes to history classes states should be in charge of their own textbooks...
I've moved around alot while in school I knew its going to be a "spin" put on everything.

Texas is an example of what happens when politics enters schools, history is revisited by politicians who want to change it because they don't like it. Science too. Pathetic. This attempt by Texas board of education has a parallel in history... Nazi Germany. Revise history, and toss a dose of Christianity to brainwash future generations.

Texas, being a larger state, is a major consumer of textbooks. If they change their textbook standards to fit their agenda, it will effectively impose the propoganda textbooks on other states, as a textbook company will be more likely to simply change all of it's books instead of creating a "Texas-only" version. This measure in California is presumably meant to counter that.

That statement itself is bigoted. I'm from California and I can't stand all the politically correct lesbian and gay activist social engineering being shoved down our throats.
