He's a democrat, against the Arizona law and was "expected" to defend the law in court against a federal challenge.

This girls got some big brass ones.

He also will be her challenger in the fall.

Arizona Gov. Jan Brewer abruptly suspends state's attorney general from illegal immigrant law defense | Top of the Ticket | Los Angeles Times

Quote:
However, Goddard has vocally opposed the measure, so much so that the Legislature gave the governor advance authority to hire outside legal counsel.

On Friday, Goddard met with the Obama administration's Atty. Gen. Eric Holder in Washington, then held a news conference just hours before Brewer's handpicked attorneys were to meet with Holder, an outspoken critic of the law.

Seeing apparent collusion between the two Democrat lawyers, Brewer pulled the plug Friday night.
Apparently, the legislature gave the guy a vote of no confidence and gave the governor the legal means to toss him.

Good for her. The AIG meeting with Holder and having the same views as Holder ?
Would not make for a good defense.

Too funny!

First of all, the Arizona Attorney General, is an constitutionally independent elected official. The governor is powerless to "suspend" them. As for the argument that the Arizona Attorney General is "colluding" with the U.S. Attorney General is ludicrous on its face. As an independently elected official the AG is bond to defend or not defend the state of Arizona as it deems fit.

Here in Pennsylvania we are confronted with a similar issue, the Governor, Ed Rendell is an ardent supporter of the recently passed healthcare legislation. The AG, Tom Corbett has joined other states in filing suit against it. That is his right as an independently elected official. Rendell nor many citizens agree with Corbett's decision, but it is his decision to make.

Obviously, she HAS the authority to hire her own team of lawyers to defend the state against the coming lawsuits.

Obviously, since he is opposed to the law, he will not be defending it, right?

Another obviously, she and the legislature apparently doesn't trust him after his little get together with Holder and are well within their right to remove him.

All of this discourse can be laid at the feet of Barrack "The Great Uniter" Obama..! He promised to unite the political parties, the country, and the world, not to mention clean the oceans of the world..
What he has accomplished is to completely divide the parties, has the states fighting against each other, the residents of the states are now squaring off against each other, and has even divided his own party against each other. While he parties with his Chicago thug friends this weekend, Arizona if filled with protesters from both sides of the fence, protesting because the spineless wimp refuses to do the job he signed on for.. ..
He is the laughing stock of the rest of the world, and the little creeps of the world are flexing their muscles because they know they can push the corrupt weasel around. Iran and N Korea, and BP, are spiting in his face, which gives him another excuse to go play golf where he is safe. Inviting sports teams to the WH is his only priority .......
He accomplished all of this in under two years. In too many ways, he is single handedly dividing and destroying our great country.. I'm sure he is very proud, because this has been his purpose since he was elected..
We are left without any leadership from our government....
