My husband and I planning on moving to Sebastian late this summer or early fall. We are coming down this month to look for a house. Are there any areas we should really check out or avoid? Does chinese drywall have to be revealed? Also are there any adult education programs in the area? All I could find were geared toward getting a GED or health related degree; I like to take courses just for fun and my own satisfaction. Thanks for any info and help.

What are you looking for? Do you want a gated community, apartment, single home? How big of a lot? Near the beach? Approx. range of price? As far as adult ed goes, mostly personal enrichment courses at the high schools. A good home inspector will find Chinese drywall. I had several homes inspected. Doesn't seem to be much in Sebastian.

HarryWho Thanks for answering. I am looking for a single family home, 4 bedrooms, at least 2 baths and prefer single floor. Would like to be near the beach but that is not critical. Gated or non-gated- either is ok. Thanks for any info.

That would be easy to find in Sebastian. The largest section is called Sebastian Highlands. This is a traditional neighborhood with all types of homes, but the majority being cbs ranchers. For the most part, properties are well maintained with an occasional exception, which is usually a rental. Most lots are a quarter acre. Collier Creek Estates is more upscale, with half to one acre manicured lots but still affordable. Same for Bay Harbor. This area is a mile or so from Indian River Lagoon. Wabasso bridge and the beaches are a few miles farther. There are several gated communities which are very nice. Sebastian is very laid back, and safe. You have all the stores you need for everyday items, and Vero has the rest. If you have any specific questions, feel free to ask.

I agree with HarryWho. Sebastian is a great community. We live right on the edge of Vero and Sebastian. My husband and I tend to
"hang" out more in Sebastian. There are a bunch of great communities and places to eat and have fun. The inlet is nearby. The beach location would be Wabasso Beach. Great spot. Not too busy.

Good luck on your relocation.
