Well, just when I was getting less nervous about snakes I spied a long snake skin leading from the yard to a large ornamental planting about 5 feet across and thick with a variety of plants. Now I wonder ???????? Humm. I have the skin. Can it be identified by the scale markings? I have plenty of food for them, lizards and a few mice. BTW anyone ever notice there is a times a large group of hawks or buzzards flying around. Also there are flocks of crows and white Ibis eating in the lawns.

The buzzards used to show up in late fall from Hinckley Ohio and would go back in the spring. I think around 88 they found that it was better just to stay here so they stopped migrating. With all of the trash dumps why go back. In fact they really loved Miami but Miami didn't love them they used to sit on the court house roof and poop on passers by. The city decided to line the roof with metal sheets to make it too hot for them but they quickly figured out where the shaddy sid of the building is.

Just a quick update on the snakes in PSL. Since I moved in during December 2012 I have seen two snakes and a 4 foot long snake skin.
Today I was in the front yard taking with my neighbor from across the street and he was showing my screw pine tree to some of his friends that had come to visit from Lake Placid and my wife came out half joking and stated that will the person that put the rubber snake in the kitchen please come and get it because she did not appreciate the joke. Well, my friend and I looked at each other and proclaimed our innocence and quickly went inside to see. Well, it was a real snake, about 3 feet long and black with a grey under belly. My neighbor being a country guy followed it into a corner- you can imagine the noise and conversation and we probably scared the poor thing. He picked it up from the tail and gingerly walked to my screen porch when he started to soothe the snake by stroking it's head and in 10 minutes the snake was totally calm and relaxed and not wanting to escape his hold. It was totally relaxed which is more than I can say.
I asked him to carry the snake off, he did to his yard. He said the snake was a harmless black runner. We were very excited at that point not knowing whether the snake just came in from the back yard which is closest to the kitchen or from the open front door when my wife went outside to get the mail. Either way we are thrilled it is over and are still somewhat apprehensive, had the snake been in the house overnight? Nah. There was a small hole in the rear florida glass screen at the bottom corner at ground level just in case that is where it came from.
Watch out for those rubber snakes!!!

Did anyone see the recent article on TV about a snake in a toilet in a Starbucks in SanAntonio, is was under the rim. Can you just imagine.......................
A lady that live on the panhandle went to the bathroom late one night and not to awake her husband she did not turn on the bathroom light. While sitting down she heard a sound under her, she jumped up and ran to the door and switched on the light. It was a 4 foot rattler.

Snakes are everywhere.........BTW if a black racer does bite you will bleed for about 45 minutes.....very fine, pin like punctures but your blood won't clot giving you a watery bleed off.

On the coral snake.....King Snake and Corals have the same colors/rings but the pattern makes them good/bad. There are a bunch of dumb rhymes that can easily be confused but Corals (Venomous) have black noses......I personally wouldn't touch either just in case I was wrong!
