We like Vero Beach area as well but want to know the areas to stay away from when looking to buy a home.

Gifford, in the northeast end, is one of the poorer areas. There are pockets of lower middle class housing along 20th and 27th Avenues but not many widespread "bad areas" that I have seen. A lot of the nice gated communities are in the south part of the county, near and along Oslo Road, and also above 20th Street in the northwest end. If you get a good Realtor who has lived here a while, she/he can guide you to the better areas.
