We are considering moving to Stuart/St. Lucie (maybe West Palm Beach) area to be closer to our parents, who are getting older and need help. I would love to get some feedback from those who have also moved to the area from big/busy metro areas, and have kids.

We currently live in San Francisco Bay Area. I know the cost of living argument, so no need to go there. That and jobs aside, what I would like learn:

-What are the best private schools in the area? We have a high schooler.
-Best neighborhoods close to the beach/water to live with a teenager?
-Anything else we should know considering we're moving from California with a teenager?

Not as important but:

-Closest ice rinks that will have amateur hockey for adults and kids (if there are any).

Thank you in advance.

Not sure about private- we sent ours to charter schools. They started at Renaissance Charter School at Tradition, and they served our kids until they went to middle/high school. We then enrolled them at Somerset College Prep Academy. It is a great charter school that I strongly believe in and support.

A great neighborhood by the water is Ravello. Riverbend is pretty nice too. You should check them out! I can really only tell you about PSL though. It's going to be difficult to tell you a neighborhood in St Lucie or Martin counties on the water. There really aren't "neighborhoods". You just need to come and look to understand.

Your kids will adjust well. The great thing about PSL is EVERYONE is an outsider. The children that attend schools here are used to new transplants, and it is no big deal for them to accept your children. We moved away to an area where people don't have many new kids. It's been hard on them for sure.

West Palm would be your closest ice rink. Honestly it's not something the kids do there.

As someone who has started in NY, then VA, NC, FL, and now GA- I can honestly say our home is S FL. We are doing everything we can to get back there and hopefully will be returning soon!

Thanks for the reply. So let me get this right... Your kids when to school in FL then you moved? And if I may, did Somerset Prep prepare your kids will for college?
