We settled on Vero Beach because it was love at first sight. We loved the draping oaks, Ocean Drive, Riverside Park and the Theatre, and the clean streets. We love that most of the big box stores are handy, that there's plenty of restaurants, many beautiful beaches, and though we don't use the schools, I hear they're very good.

Where can you find that on the Treasure Coast? Every town I know of has big box stores, malls, strip centers, chain restaurants, traffic, more than one elementary school, no real downtown areas, and lots of traffic lights, and lots of police.

That's all big city stuff to me.

Default Small city atmosphere...

I guess it depends on what you consider a large city Take NYC for example. Now that's a City with no small town atmosphere. Okay, Now look at the City of Port Saint Lucie. Lots of little cities within a city, depending on what part of town you live in. US one area, Tradition, Saint Lucie West, Etc. Now if you really want to see small town USA. Check out Nebo, NC. you sneeze and your out of there. The Treasure Coast is Quite Beautiful if you really take the time to explore all it has to offer.

Sebastian is a beautiful town....Small enough to be great but with the amenities close by but not obtrusive.

i like our festivals and concerts. arlo guthrie gave a free concert here. (he has or had a part time residence in sebastian). i love the grant seafood festival, art under the oaks, and the melbourne arts festival. i like going to orchid island and golden sands. (though have not had time to go to the beach for a while). the boating sightseeing tours are pretty good. i like the little kayak trip at the brevard zoo where they give you a little lecture on the local flora and fauna.

We try to time our trips to make the under the oaks art festival.
And the Brevard Zoo is a must see- my kids LOVE the kayak trip-what a great way to see the animals....if I remember I'll add a few pics from there to the photo thread. My sons never get tired of going there.
I have the feeling I'll be visiting the area for the rest of my life and never get tired of it.

Oh yes, the boat tour of the lagoon and river that leaves from Capt Hirams...dolphins, Osprey, gators....beautiful homes, we do that nearly every year, too.
