Hello all,

I'm interviewing for a job that would take me to Portland in mid-March, and I'm scouting out rental options in advance. Would prefer to stay close to $1,000 - $1,2000 per month rent-wise, but it looks like that may be challenging in this area?

I'm a single male in my late 20s currently living in the Philadelphia suburbs. Born and raised in Washington state, but have moved a few times for work since finishing college (4 different states in the past 5 years). I'm not too picky about location, as long as it's a safe and reasonably affordable neighborhood. Don't have a huge need for nightlife, but having a few watering holes/local coffee shops/restaurants within a reasonable drive would be a nice bonus.

I was in Portland for a few days on business this past summer and I really loved the area, so am hoping this opportunity pans out. Thanks in advance for any suggestions/insight!

My daughter started a job immediately before the COVID shutdown. Thankfully, her company paid her during the shutdowns. Mid-March wasn't a time to move.

Portland is likely the most expensive city in Maine.
