Remember it wasn't the child who set up the stand, it was the attention grabbing mother.
We had a little fruit stand when we were kids; it was good late summer fun, but somehow I don't think it would have had the same magic if Mother had thrown us into the back of the suburban and carted us to a different town because she thought the financial pickings might be better there.

Anybody on here who sides with what the bullying health inspectors did was clearly never a child themselves. When kids aren't allowed to run lemonade stands, we might as well ban apple pie and Bruce Springsteen.

It doesn't seem that anyone here has a problem with kiddy run lemonade stands but rather with pushy parents who drive their kids to other towns to set their stands up. Kinda reminds me of when kids used to go trick or treating on Halloween (do they still do that, anywhere, anymore?) and some parents would load up their minivans and drop their little monsters in the pricier neighborhoods thinking they'd score more candy and of a better quality as well.

Part of the fun of doing this sort of thing as a child should come from your parents leaving you the hell alone for the most part and letting you be a kid. What seven year old wants their mother meddling around in her/his lemonade stand?

These are public employees that have nothing else better to do then shut down a lemonade stand. What losers! Country time lemonade is the best & not koolaid lemonade like the girl was selling for 50 cents a cup. The days of 10 & 25 cent cups of lemonade is far gone. Just like the days of 1 or 2 dollar a gal gas.

The public employees were just doing their jobs!! Not being bullies!! The lemonade stand was set up at some kind of fair and has to go by health coded just like every other food vendors. The mom was trying to exploit her kid to get extra money for their trip. People need to realize this was not a child lemonade stand in a her front yard in their neighborhood.

They are allowed to run lemonade stands. When health inspectors start shutting down children’s lemonade stands located on their own front lawn you let us know.

When their parents get involved by driving them out of town to set up at a fair or any other location in order to turn a good profit, they must adhere to the same regulations any other business has to comply with.

Apparently the only people who cannot or refuse to grasp this simple concept are the folks who work themselves up into a lather by watching Faux ‘News’.

Fox News Derangement Syndrome strikes again!!!

I knew it would happen.

This story has been on NPR, MSNBC, Jay Leno show, etc., etc., and yet a cable news outfit whose most popular show has only about 3 million viewers gets the blame.

Update News, Oregon Girl Not Bitter After Lemonade Stir.

After a county inspector squeezed out a kid's lemonade business, so many Oregonians puckered up in disgust that the county chairman had to pour on a little sugar.

The apology sweetened up some sour feelings and made 7-year-old Julie Murphy eligible to resume selling her Kool-Aid and water concoction for 50 cents a cup.

She earned enough to take her entire family to Disneyland according to CNN last night. And her mother was crowing like a rooster. Great scam. The kid is learning a good lesson in all this; break the law and get the media on your side if you are young and cute.

No one is saying no lemonade stands. Kids in my neighborhood run them every year with no problem because they don't try to infringe on privately run events. Poor kids who do it right, they will wonder why they are not getting media attention and thousands of dollars to take costly trips.

This is an example of a "helicopter" parent butting in what should be a fun endeavor for a kid to earn a few bucks to make a huge profit.
