Kinda just a fun thread and nothing serious, but what kind of "foreign" plates have you been seeing around here lately? Is it me or have I been seeing an unusually high amount of these the past couple months?:

I think you notice those a lot more than others because they are gaudy and *highly* visible. Thank god they had the sense to cancel that plate reissue (even if that sense was imposed by a fiscal crisis)

We just moved here, and I was born in NYC, does that count?

Our car actually has a PA plate right now, but it won't be here for another week, after which we'll attend to getting it Oregonized (luckily it already has a front bumper plate holder for weird places like this).

It's probably just the time of year also accounting for most of it. Spring and summer is when people usually make their "big moves" since you're not battling the weather.

I always think it's funny when I see a car in Oregon with Hawaii plates...

Well, I currently have Ohio plates, and will probably have them until the end of the year or so.

Just so everyone knows, the State of Oregon requires that you title and register out of state vehicles immediately after establishing residence in Oregon.

If you get caught, or even "innocently" show up at the DMV office to register later when your out of state license plate tags expire claiming ignorance of the law, you will be fined.

Don't try to cheat to save a few bucks. It will cost you. Oregon government always needs more money and they will get it out of you.

You're seeing the result of many New York Times articles praising various aspects of Portland's lifestyle and culture.

Portland is highly regarded, especially among the downstate hipster population. Plus, they still consider Portland to be affordable!

I thought 30 days was the standard grace period to apply for a new title (An Oregon issued title, obviously)

It's only illegal if you get caught
