Guess you still don't get my point huh? Whatever Oregon has in store, where I'm at now is guaranteed 100 percent worse! From poor, homelessness, to joblessness(highest in the nation), to attitudes, to an environment that people die in daily! Anything that Oregon can throw at me, I can promise its worse here, and nothing I haven't dealt with before...

I hope they at least have cheap dairy queens there for an inexpensive cone!
When's the last time you've been to the DQ? Not so cheap anymore, and certainly not "dairy"!

I'm intrigued by the Salt and Straw thread. I live clear out near Carver and don't get downtown all that often. But for some really cool ice cream, I just might!

Not to resurrect this thread yet again and watch it devolve, but Salt & Straw has the most amazing *baked* donuts. I didn't know they were baked, not fried. Yesterday I got the lavender-iced lemon custard donuts.

Are those from them? Or are they from the bakery near their Alberta location?

We went to the NW 23rd location last night. It was awesome, maybe the best ice cream we've ever had. Fresh local ingredients. Delicious, unique flavors. Even though it has the whiff of the "latest trendy hot spot for foodies", at this point I would say it's the real deal.

And be prepared, there was a line out the door the entire time we were there (from 8pm-9pm on a Friday night). Fortunately we had a sitter because I'm not sure if we would have survived the wait with our preschooler in tow.

Good to know. We went on a weekday at about 2pm and there were only a few people in front of us.

With Bamboo Sushi opening right next to them, this might have to be a regular destination of ours.

If you go around lunchtime, the wait isn't go bad... at least it hasn't been the last few times I've been, even with my two-year-old.
