I will be moving to Portland in about 6 weeks. I'm a 34 year old single male with no kids. I have been talking to this guy I know who ironically moved to Chicago from Portland and he has been giving me some solid advice as I prepare to move. Well, today we were talking about Portland women and he told me that alot of women in my age group are married in Portland, and that I would probably have to date women in their 20's and late 40's if I was looking for a long term relationship. He also told me that Portland women are not prissy like alot American women and that they do not get dressed up to go out on dates, take baths regularly or stay out at bars and clubs all hours of the night. I have no problem with the age thing as I will date women as young as 18 and as old as 50 as long as we have something in common. I like to go to bars, cafes, bike trails, stripclubs and sit at home on a cold and rainy day and watch sports on TV or play around on my laptop. So I assume I will like Portland very much.

I would agree with the guy you spoke to that women here do not get dressed up very much (but neither do some of the men) when they go out, heck, even to just leave the house. It is perfectly normal to see sweats and even pajamas as normal attire worn out and about. When I lived in Southern California, I hardly ever saw this. Most people, women in particular, got ready and dressed when the left the house. And I dont mean they dressed up but they put some effort into it when they got ready.

Well, for a start, as a Portland woman, I think I would speak for many if not most of us when I say that that kind of attitude is pretty disgusting. We're humans, not conquests or trophy heads on your wall, and we appreciated being treated that way.
