Any good insider getaway spots (within a couple 3 hours drive from Portland) to pan for gold?

Might want to check out Quartzville Creek, in Linn County. Not really an "insider" spot though, since it's mentioned on the oregongold.net website.

There are several "OPEN" Public panning areas, but they are not as accessible to Portland. I have been doing this for fifty years now.

Yep. Paid for college with part of it back in the 1960's and bought my first PC in 1976 with the proceeds of a summer.
