I have a cousin who is homeless living in Portland somewhere last time I spoke to him he said he likes living like that he has his problems with Alcohol and drugs he has stolen from every family member who tries to help him. Last time he stayed at my mothers house and cleaned out her purse of all her cash. He told me that he likes living on the streets or crashing with friends camping out somewhere no one to tell him to do anything. He used to maintain commercial buildings he owned 2 homes 1 on the beach in Dana point, CA. He always had an alcohol problem at first he could work and drink after work but as time went on he started not showing up for work get let go then after so many jobs he started living with his mother again he was in his 50's. He has lived with several family members but always turns out the same he starts taking money or selling there things and gets kicked out. He has been to rehab a few times but he said only to get his Mother to let him live with her again he said he never stop drinking he loves it too much at least he is honest with me. I have always been nice to him but I never let him live with me always just tell him no room here. Not all homeless are like him but lot of them he says he can make $100 a day panhandling he is good at it making people feel sorry for him. I have tried to talk to him see if can get him some help he doesn't want it. He said in portland he can make more money panhandling then other places.

Not exactly my brother's problems. Some similarities. He died of organ failure at 70.
