I read a lot of posts from people relocating to the Portland, OR from all over except the Carolinas. Are there any people who have relocated to the Portland area from the Carolinas? How was your move? Did it work out for you? Was it change for the better? Please weigh in.

One of my roommates moved here about a year and a half ago from Charlotte as he has family here. He seems to like it but he put in for a transfer to Seattle as the position he wants to move up into at work, which he held in Charlotte, doesn't exist here.

Wow, Carolinians do exist in the Portland area! How has the move been? Do you miss Charlotte? Please elaborate on the pros and cons of your moves.

I moved from Portland to Asheville. Sometimes people compare them to each other, but Asheville really isn't like Portland. I'd imagine since a lot of people downtown seem to have a thing for Portland some of them have made the move.

Does that count?

Weather is better in this area so probably one of the reasons you're not running into a lot of Carolinians.

As far as Charlotte I disliked that city, but liked Portland.

I always thought Asheville reminded me of Hood River albeit larger.
