You only go to Parma for pizza. I actually gave up the indoor antenna when I moved to the Cleveland area. I got reception in Portland with it but not here. Too near the lake or something.

But I did watch the fireworks from my window after the Indians game. Nice display.

Go CAVs!

Go Indians!

3. Very poor public education system, evidenced by the extremely high school dropout rate

4. Either the residents have clueless regarding restaurants or they overrate everything in order to justify their living in an overpriced restaurant city. I am familiar with what others say about how great Portland restaurants are, but I have lived most of my life in Europe and Asia and am shocked at the poor imitations of, particularly, Asian restaurants. The most authentic Asian restaurants I have found are Vietnamese and I suspect that this is because most of their customers are of Vietnamese origin

5. Accepting mediocrity in other areas including live music and comedy and treating it as excellent.

6. Keep Portland weird - does this mean everyone needs most of their body covered by tattoos, purple hair or having homeless occupying doorways?

7. The most depressing weather I have encountered in my long life

8. In summary, a little, uncultured town mostly populated by people who are not very educated, worldly, or well paid

I could go on destroying illusions, but will leave it to the locals to chastize me
I'm sorry you're not happy here and wish you the best on finding your new home. I'm curious though, when you visited, prior to moving here and when you first moved here, what did you like about the city? What made you decide Portland was it? I understand visiting is way different than living, but I am curious to understand what brought you here. We heard why you are choosing to leave, so let's here the why you chose Portland.

#2. Oregonians blame Californians for everything that they feel is negative; it's not just rising property prices. It's especially rampant online, rarely in-person.

#4. You do realize how white this city is, right? There are some great chefs and restaurants up here, but you can't expect them to be authentic. If you want authentic, you go to cities that have the biggest population of the specific ethnicity. I'm from LA, I don't expect anything in Portland to be near as good when it comes to specific ethnicities, in regards to authenticity, but that doesn't mean Portland doesn't have good food; much of it is over-rated because it's trendy, but many are really good too.

I think statements like this become self-fulfilling prophesies sometimes.

It works like this: I'm an Oregonian. You keep insisting I think a certain way. It makes me not like you very much.

Please don't assume what I wrote is what I believe. I completely agree with you. I mean, when I am warned my tires will get slashed or my car keyed because I have CA plates, it makes me dislike Oregonians.

I meant "you" in a general sense rather than a personal one. But you really aren't making much sense. Why shouldn't anyone assume that what you wrote is what you believe? You didn't make any disclaimers, and people on a forum can't read your mind.

Basically, it goes both ways. I could easily say, "I'm a former Californian. You keep insisting I think a certain way. It makes me not like you very much."

If you still think I'm not making sense, disregard my responses to you completely.

Guess I should just disregard you as usual, because you still aren't making sense. I'm not the one who made a statement about how I think Californians think. You are the one who made a statement about what Oregonians think. I was responding to what you actually typed instead of some theoretical. See the difference?
