Hello all just wondering if its just me- but have some uses for dried apricots- and need a good quantity and am surprised by a lack of availability (no I don't want 5ounces for $5) in normal stores- like Winco, Safeway, even Costco or new seasons...
(I checked one Fred Meyers but there is a bigger one a little further away)

Just wondering if anyone in the local PDX area has noticed this-
I am looking for dried not fresh, so it shouldn't be a seasonal thing?
(shocked really had ready access to economically priced apricots for years, they were a childhood staple)...

Hummingbird in Eugene.

They are only open to the public 2-3 days a week for a couple of hours a day. Hours are online so you can look it up.

I thought I saw a package of dried organic apricots at Costco recently. If you are a member, or have a friend who is, look there.

No i was just at Costco the day i posted this- plenty of nuts, dried mango and apples and other snack pack fruit- but no bulk bags of dried apricots-

I am looking for bulk bags-

the food coop (not convenient to me at all ) am sure will carry them, but I just wanted to grab a bulk bag, its just odd, I find how they have disappeared off shelves-

I am thinking that all the holiday fruit and nut gift baskets used up the cheaply available supply...

Winco.
I am not sure that one can grow organic apricots?
Some antioxidants will be needed to prevent browning and degradation of fruit's ascorbic/citric acids.

Size of bulk bag(s) you're seeking and price point per pound would help with suggestions.

Have you checked the bulk prices at Winco?

If you don't already know, they are listed at the very bottom of the cards bearing the price per pound and ingredients, in the area where you scoop them out of the barrels yourself.

If you're looking for massive amounts, perhaps they also offer a discount on multiple boxes.

Another place I believe has them that may be closer to you is World Foods on Barbur- I'd call first. Pretty sure they have Turkish apricots that don't have sulfur dioxide.

Its for stewing, so I prefer organic, Winco didn't have any organic, and New seasons only had a very small 5.5 oz bag (I was looking for a pound or two, to keep on hand in my pantry)-

I just realized I do pass by Sheridans- and have time tomorrow (none today to shop!) and will check there then!

thanks all for the suggestions!
