Anyone who thinks this is simply a gay bashing incident is sadly niave.

People, like me, want and demand some level of integrity from elected officials. In addition, I have always found that people who lie about one thing have a lot of other lies hiddin within. A person is honest or they are not.

Sam Adams isn't. Period.

In addition, he coerced another person to lie with him in order to be elected as mayor of a major city. A job where honesty & integrity is very important. And when others make small challabges about this affair during the election, when HONEST people brought them up, Sam Adams branded them as homophobes and dishonest, thus smearing their reputations.

In addition, a job was given as a technical advisor to another person who didn't have opne iota of qualification and numerous people with substationally better qualifications were turned aside- but this person hired was investigating and close to breaking the story on the big lie. The evidence is beyond a shadow of a doubt a buy off. And yet more lies concerning that continue.

Sam Adams has proven himself to be untrustworthy, dishonest, and seems to live a lie even now. Why are we to entrust him with public money? With our best interests? With education.....?

He has lost his ability to govern openly & honestly.

If he chooses to stay it will be for all the wrong reasons.

Also, could you have come up with a better name in a sex scandal then.....Beau Breedlove?
WTF?
It would look better if his name was Joe Smith or something bland.
Beau Breedlove sounds like a name for a gay porn star.

New York Times:
"PORTLAND, Ore. — The politician was in his 40s, a rising star, a man with the pilot light of ambition burning bright. The intern was just 17, sorting through emotions about his sexuality, a boy who said he needed someone to mentor him in the political world."

How odd that someone who you describe as a good and wonderful person would slander a potential political opponent, lie to reporters and colleagues, and coach his sexual-partner how best to lie to cover up his actions. And then, when the truth of the matter comes out, concoct another lie about those actions, saying it was just a mentoring situation. And then the next day, admit that was a lie, and he never was mentoring him they were just friends. And then a few days later admit that there actually was contact of a sexual nature.

It has nothing to do with gay or straight. It has to do with Sam Adams, and his total lack of trustworthiness.

And ... prying reporter? That's their job.

I didn't give a rip about Pres Clinton and Monica and I don't give a rip about Sam Adams and Beau.
I don't think someone's sex life is public business. Beau was 18 when they had sex, though 17 when they kissed. He doesn't feel abused, he said he knew exactly what he was doing. Plenty of teens are more mature than their age, plenty of teens find older people attractive. There was no coercion or rape or molestation. It was fully consensual.

It is human nature to lie about sex....Unfortunately, It is also human nature for people to push their own morality on to others....

You mean the lying was not wrong?

What do you want to be that for the one boy he apparently lied about, there were others being chickenhawked that nobody heard about yet?

Is it also human nature to publicly slander people who were trying to speak the truth about this when running for public office?

Is it also human nature to pay off a reporter hot on your trail with a government job they otherwise would never even get an interview for?

Is it human nature to lie to the public that supported you?

If this is what you want from your public officials, God help us all.
