Need some local info:
Lets just pretend that money is not an object and I choose to live in the upscale, newer type of developements.
Will be working in Beaverton (by Nike) and usually do not like to commute over 30-40 minutes and do not choose to live in downtown area's.

Where to live?
Heard LO is cool, but maybe too far to drive?
Looked at a nice house on Cooper Mountain but the surrounding areas appeared lower end?
Forest Hills? Keep hearing great things about Forest Hills
Tualatin?

Help, I have 2 weeks to decide and will be renting until I learn the area.

Probably Forest Heights if you wanted to stay near that area. I guess Cooper Mt. wouldn't require any rush hour freeway commute either, but you're not adjacent to downtown and in fact it's a pretty good schlep to downtown from that area if there's any traffic.

L.O., West Linn, Tualatin, all nice areas but you'd be fighting rush hour freeway traffic.

Phil lives (or used to live) on Cooper Mt.

Maybe because I am "Old Portland" I wouldn't buy a home built in the last 10 years. They are too new to see construction defects and during the boom too many of the construction folks were ahh.. new to the trade, and too many contractors didn't know (or do) a good job. That would preclude buying in most of Forest Heights (west side of the hill).

HOWEVER, drive further out on Skyline and you will find nice, well built middle-age homes with a view. A little tricky driving when icy, but stay home then in any case.
