#1, I went into labor (my water broke) at 8 pm, and she was born at 12:05 pm the next day. 16 hours.
#2, I went into labor around 9 pm and she was born at 10 am. 13 hours.
#3, I started having contractions in the evening, but didn't go to the hospital until morning, around 7 am. He was born at 4:30 pm. At least 9.5 hours.
Those 30-minute can't-make-it-to-the-hospital labors I keep hearing about did not happen for me. In fact, with #2, my doctor had warned me that my labor could be very fast so I should not delay going to the hospital as soon as I felt contractions. She was wrong.
However, the pushing phase was dramatically shorter and easier with the second and third babies.
1- Twins, induced 7am on Thursday (39+1), did not start labor, not even a twinge, so c-section 4pm Friday.
2- Waters broke 9pm Tuesday, mild contractions till Wednesday morning, started getting stronger then, doctor wanted me in hospital due to ruptured membranes and VBAC (vaginal birth after c-section), baby finally born 4am Thursday morning. I would say about 20 hours of active labor.
My labor started at 2:00 am on Saturday and my DD was born at 9:30 pm on Sunday. So, what is that, like 42.5 hours? Fun stuff. At least the pushing was easy, that only took 15 minutes for me.
#1 active labor started at 9:00 pm. She was born at 12:08 am. (AROM and pitocin to induce after ROM "failed" to jump start contractions)
#2 active labor started at 7:45 pm, noticeable, but mild contractions, like BH. "Real" contractions started at 8:00 pm. She was born at 8:32 pm. (AROM to induce, but contractions didn't start until shortly after I got out of the shower).
#3 induced with AROM and pitocin. Contractions were slow to start due to issues related to severe polyhydramnios. Active labor started at 8:00 am and he was born at 9:40 am. We planned a homebirth, but I was induced at the hospital).
#4 Uh... he was born at home (planned) at 11:51 pm. Contractions started about a minute before. Like, I went from a calm phone conversation with my mom one minute (complaining about it taking forever to start), to a very abrupt and sudden birth about two minutes later. It was absolutely insane. I could barely process what happened.
#5 Mild BH-like contractions started at 3:00 pm. I was absolutely sure it was prodromal labor again (it was identical to the contractions I had a week prior). I just knew it wasn't the real deal and was reluctant to text my midwife (planned another homebirth), but my husband encouraged me to "just in case" and to prep the birth tub. Still, I was unconvinced, even after my midwife and her apprentice arrived. The birth tub was relaxing and took pressure off my pelvic floor, but I didn't feel like I was in labor at all. My midwife asked to check me and I was so sure there wouldn't be a change. To our shock I was 8 cm and her head was nearly crowning. That was at 5:14 pm. She was born at 5:20 pm on Thanksgiving.
I was induced due to preeclampsia a week early. They started the induction with Cervadil at 5 in the afternoon, Started the Pitocin 12 hours later, 5 a.m.. My water had to be broken, serious contractions started between 7-8 in the morning, hard active labor about 9:30 a.m., he was born 11:34 a.m.
3 babies here as well:
#1 planned induction started at 8am, turned c/s in the 8pm hour
#2 labor around 9pm, gave birth the next day a little before 9pm (over 23 hours)
#3 labor started around 1:30pm, by 3:15pm had my baby in my arms (a little under 2 hours)
Baby 1--Labor started about 9:30 am--Water broke about 4 pm. Born about 5:30 pm
Baby 2--about 2:30 am--labored until about 7:30. I don't recall the water breaking, but I'm sure it did. Pushed for about 1.5-2 hours with no progress. Emergency c-section around 9:30 am. (cord was around his neck so he couldn't descend.)
