We are moving to Cottonwood from Central California. Can anyone tell me what their electric bill runs during the summertime in Cottonwood? We are moving to Cottonwood Ranch. Is anyone out there familiar with that community? Would appreciate any comments/insights. Is it true that the normal temperature during the summer is in the mud 90's during the day and cools down to mid 70's at night? Please tell any good or bad things that you know about Copttonwood and Cottonwood Ranch. I will appreciate any response that is helpful to finding out all about the area.

Cottonwood Ranch is a nice area but the homes are much larger than the one I live in so I can't say what the bill would run. It's possible that if you contact APS they might tell you what the average bill was for a particular home. Running the AC all summer will run the bill up but, from what I can tell, the rates here in Cottonwood aren't all that bad. Compared to, say, Phoenix. When I lived in a 2BR place my bill was about $90 mo. but a lot depended on whether I used the AC or the swamp cooler.

Summer temps can be in the triple digits. Today it's about 103 but I'd say it averages between 95-105 most of the summer. And yes, it does cool down about 30 degrees overnight. Yesterday it was 101 and when I got up this morning at 6:30 it was 68. Over the next few days it's supposed to hover around 100 +/- a few degrees. When it's this hot a few degrees doesn't make much difference. We'll be going into our Monsoon season soon which means afternoon thunder/rain storms which DO cool it off pretty nicely in the afternoons but that also means higher humidity. Even so it's not like the humidity in other parts of the country. Not unbearable and doesn't last forever.

There's a topic in the forum "Arizona, city by city" that you can read through and there's a VERY comprehensive post about Cottonwood. It would be worth your time to read it.

Hope you like living here. I do!
