I have been watching old games from CBS from the 1985 to 1989 era and I have noticed a few things. I noticed from a game in 1986 that during halftime, Brent Musburger and Irv Cross is in the studio with Dick Butkus. Where was Jimmy the Greek?
Then I watched the Halftime report for a 1987 game on CBS and in the studio was Brent Musburger and Dick Vermeil. Where was Irv Cross and Jimmy the Greek?
But I also know that Jimmy the Greek wasn't fired until January of 1988 so why was he missing from the NFL today in 86 and 87?
That's doesn't answer my question. I;m watching the opening weekend of 1987 now and he was not in the studio. In games from 1986 he is not in the studio which is why I only asked someone to respond if they watched football during that time period
If you watched football during that time it wouldn't have been any need for you to post a youtube video

I told you I watched a 1987 game today from week 1 and he wasn't on there, it was Dick Vermeil
It's been a long time, but my recollection is that JTG mainly predicted results on the pregame show. Remember, JTG was a Vegas guy, not an Xs and Os guy. So, it may have been that he wasn't normally used during the halftime broadcast, which focused on first-half play.

He also was diabetic. Could be he just couldn't get things in order that day and called in sick.
