Agree. The fact that despite all their college success QBs from Alabama, Florida and USC have not turned into top NFL QBs very often. That says a lot. As posted earlier when they get to the pros they no longer have overwhelming talent on their side of the ball and that changes everything.
So I'll throw my two cents in here since I am a life long Alabama resident and Tide football fan. McCarron is a stand up PERSON off the field. He loves kids, and often works with less fortunate kids to give them opportunities to come to games, gives them gear, etc... He also volunteers a lot. As do most of the Bama players. Saban pushes that mentality on and off the field.
So if you ask me, the guy has already seen a lot of success. On the field he got it done. No, he's not the best QB to come out of a college environment by far. He made a lot of mistakes and I've seen cracks in the mortar when it got really bad. But for the most part when he needs to deliver, he does.
With that being said, I don't know whether he should have been drafted sooner or later. Doesn't really matter in the end. What he does now that he is on a team is what matters. As for the comment above, I could almost guarantee that he will meet more success in life than you if this is the type of mentality you have towards others. I've met the guy numerous times. And he is as genuine as the local media makes him out to be. And to continue the fairness, I don't know of many AU players that aren't just as dedicated.
Too many of you want to be armchair coaches and quarterbacks. Support these guys for having the passion and drive to do something they love that you get to enjoy and complain about.
I have no animosity towards McCarron, I think he is a stand up, well respected guy. I hope he does do well in the NFL, I really do. I just think he was drafted about where he should've been, I don't think he will ever be a top flight QB at the pro level. If he ever does make it, great for him. I wish him well.
