Las Vegas never had a major professional franchise but they did had an UFL team called the Las Vegas Locomotives.

You don't know that.

vegas would be an interesting venue for the raiders. there is certainly enough hotel space to handle the visiting fans, and they would draw fans from arizona, calfornia, and utah as well as nevada.

Remember the XFL? *crickets*

Well, Las Vegas had a team called The Outlaws. All I remember about them was one player had "He Hate Me" on his jersey instead of his name. I also remember the cheerleaders, which I'm sure were hired from local strip clubs. LOL

Yeah, NFL players on the loose in Vegas. I highly doubt that will end well.

I'm leading a grassroots awareness campaign here in Vegas to show our desire for a team.

There are several reasons as to why Vegas would EASILY support an NFL franchise.

1. We have over two million people in the metro area.
2. We ARE sport loving citizens... We've just never had a chance to show it at a professional level.
3. We are thankful for the Strip... But that is just a place of employment for most of us. We couldn't care less about spending an off day in a casino... We want to take in a game just like anyone else.
4. The stadium would sit within walking distance from tens of thousands of hotel rooms... While also being close to the 215 & 15 freeways, making access easy for locals and tourists alike.
5. In a climate controlled dome, being bothered by the heat/Sun wouldn't be an issue.
6. Players would want to play here. We have very affordable property with less than 1% property tax... Also, Nevada does not have a state income tax.
7. Betting on games taking place in Vegas would most likely be outlawed... However, this would only represent a tiny slice of overall betting figures.
8. The stadium already has a lot of local support, even with public financing on the table. It would be home to UNLV on Saturdays as well as hosting an entire slate of events we haven't had the capability of hosting... Especially since our largest stadium is only 40,000 capacity, is 45 years old, dumpy and way out in the middle of nowhere.
9. There are LOTS of Raider fans already living in LV.

Look... People doubted the whole NHL thing... Said "Vegas doesn't care about pro sports and NHL" ... "Vegas is retirees and transient folk"
Then they decided to do a season ticket drive with two rules... The first was that you had to be a local INDIVIDUAL... Not a company buying a whole block of seats. The second was that you had to commit to a full 41 game home plan.
They set their goal at 10,000 seats out of an 18,000 capacity.
13,500 season tickets were reserved.

Now this floats along and people keep on saying "nope not Vegas, nope"

The Facebook page I started three days ago has blown up with support... I'll put it this way... The NHL results surprised a lot of people... You can expect this to do even better.

Filling 65,000 will not be an issue in the slightest.

Investment website Seeking Alpha reports NFL efforts to raise money for a stadium to host the Raiders.

Excerpt from the NFL Press Release:

"The Southern Nevada Tourism Infrastructure Committee recommended raising the hotel tax in the Las Vegas area to help pay for a 65,000-seat domed venue that was promoted and would be partially financed by billionaire casino mogul Sheldon Adelson. Proponents still need to win over the governor, the Legislature and three-quarters of NFL owners to make the project a reality, but it's a significant milestone for a city that's never had a professional football team and has been hammering out the particulars of the Raiders deal for months."
