Roger Goodell wants to make it so that in the first round of the playoffs, division winners wouldn't automatically have a home game. If they played a wildcard team that had a better record, the wild card team would get the game in their own stadium. What do you think? I like it.
I think the better record should have the home field too. Some of the divisions are just too easy and they don't deserve the advantage if someone else has actually won more games. But that's just my opinion.
I agree with the "if it ain't broke, don't fix it" mentality. What's there to fix? The NFL is as healthy as its ever been. Stuff like this blows my kind. You even hear whispers of expanding the NCAA tourney field. Why??? (and don't count on revenue increasing by any means- very simplistic and short-sighted answer). Besides, I don't care if the divisional winner has a worse record- what is the point of divisions then? You may as well as just have 2 16-team conferences for pete's sakes.
I tell you what IS broke and I've got a fix for it; The NFL Pro Bowl.
Here's how you fix it:
First, you don't select where to play the Super Bowl anymore. The Super Bowl should be played at either the NFC Champions' stadium or at the AFC Champions' stadium.
Second, you do like MLB. People like to watch the NBA All Star Game and the MLB All Star Game. Nobody wants to watch the Pro Bowl and nobody wants to play in it. Nobody wants to break their little pinky! Waa! Then just give the players' and their family a free trip to Hawai'i and dont even play the stupid game. OR make it worth something. Which ever Conference wins the thing gets to host the Super Bowl the following year.
I don't care if it's the Broncos and the Green Bay Packers. Let the respective city who backed their team all the way to their respective Conference Championship AND who's Conference had the SACK to step up and try to win that Pro Bowl game the season before benefit from the increased revenue.
Then you've got Pro Bowls that are worth watching and Super Bowls that are actually the best and most exciting game of the season. If you don't make it to the Super Bowl, you can watch those corporate fans freeze their AGHGHGHGSSes off! It would be great either way.

Yeah... I gotta disagree there. I can't imagine a Super Bowl without it played in a neutral site.
Other than that, you're right. The Pro Bowl is irrelevent.
What is really broke is the sudden death O.T. rule. That's what needs fixing. After each team gets one possession, then it should turn to sudden death.
