In an age where QB's play till 39-40 or beyond this move feels a little premature. Rodgers will turn 37 late in the 2020 season. But even with that it feels like a younger 37 after sitting for his first three years. He's always gotten banged up but they always seem like minor injuries and for the most part he takes care of his body.
Big Ben in contrast who is less than two years older than Rodgers has seemed like he has possibly been on his last legs for a few years. But even he has found enough left in the tank to put up some good numbers during that time.
By the time Love gets to start he will be off or close to off his cheap rookie contract. I don't see the point in picking a replacement for Rodgers for at least 2 more years.
Packers could get a draft haul for Rodgers if a bidding war were to open up. Question is for Rodgers, is there a better opportunity out there for him with a team that has an opening at the position? As dumb of a move this was, Packers are still a stable organization that made it all the way to the NFC Championship game last year.
