I didn't even look at the stands. I was to busy cringing after Farve got dumped on his backside! Maybe this year they will start slow and build up, rather than come out kickin butt and taper off by seasons end.
It's their 50th year. How sweet would it be to finally win a Super Bowl.
I just took a look at thier schedule and unless some of those teams took a big dive since last year the vikings are going to need to fight for every win as last years schedule was *much* lighter than what this one looks like at the start.
I only see 1 gimme in their first 10 games and many many tough match-ups. (Probably 8 of 10 of those are playoff calibre teams)
Favre is something like 3-7 in the last 5 games of the past two seasons so a strong finish is optimistic as you go week after week getting hit by 300lb guys. The body just does not recover at age 35+ like it once did and being the same age as BF I have to tip my hat to him but at the same time acknowledge reality.
Too bad for the vikes that they can't rest Favre and use him more towards the playoffs...a standard NBA tactic.
Mathguy serious? One gimme? Which one? Miami stinks, Lions are no better. Bills?
I was considering Detroit as the gimme.
Miami is a mediocre team, they don't *stink* and unless you are new to being a Vikings fan you should realize there are very few "gimmes" in the NFL.
LOL...the Bears...you wanted me to count the Bears AT soldier field as a gimme game? Perhaps you've repressed the memory of your last visit there with home field advantage on the line?
That *gimme* last year probably cost the vikes a trip to the Super Bowl.
I think the Vikes have a tough schedule (duh...they went 12-4 last year)....sorry you disagree.
Vikes/Pack/Bears all basically have the same schedule with the exception of their NFC West & South match-ups:
MN v NO (13 - 3)
MN v AZ (10 - 6)
GB v ATL (9 - 7)
GB v SF (8 - 8)
CHI v CAR (8 - 8)
CHI v SEA (5 - 11)
Can't believe the strength of schdule match-ups I've seen showing the Vikes and Bears with the same schedule strength. The difference (2009 final standings) between NO/AZ and CAR/Sea is 10 games. Green Bay's v. Minn is 6 games.
In any case, schedule may be part of the final standings (rather face Carolina & Seattle) but more likely it will come down to how it always has, and that's in the head-to-head division match-ups.
Tomorrow is final cut...who is it going to be Sage or Tavarus? I think they keep that Webb kid, he has some skills.
It doesn't matter.
Favre will be decent for 10 games or so (maybe) and then fall apart like he has the past 2 years. The Vikes are too whimpy to stand up and coast him for the playoffs while developing thier you guys......prepare for a playoff failure again this year.
