Nikon D7000

Rating: 5 out of 5
  • Currently 5.0/5.0

The Nikon D7000 is a high end Digital SLR camera, which is great for professional use, or an avid enthusiast. The resolution is 16.2 mega pixels, which is great for large format prints or even tight cropping. The shutter speed is amazing at 6 frames per second of continuous shooting as well. What this makes is a great package for almost any type of shooting, from sports to still lives.

The color the D7000 picks up is top of the line. The 2,016 3D Color Matrix sensor offers photographers very accurate control light metering. What this translates to is an ability to fine tune the light and color in any given shot, from outdoors photography to studio photography. This is complimented by an excellent scene recognition system with white balance and focus tracking. Assisting the photographer is a picture control which allows for use of Standard, Neutral, Vivid, Monochrome, Portrait or Landscape settings to personalize of photographs.

The Camera itself is both compact and durable. The top and rear covers are made with a magnesium alloy. This provides excellent protection from weather and dust. Nikon has also tested for the internal durability, with 150,000 shot rated shutter system. This provides a long term reliable camera for professionals or enthusiasts. The battery life is rated for 850 shots, though with down time and battery drain the battery is reliable for about 3 or 4 days of shooting if moderately used (around 80 to 100 shots per day).

The LCD monitor is very reliable as well. The LCD display is also bright and crisp for viewing pictures, or movies. This camera is one of the best on the market, outside of the $10,000 professional models. Shooting high quality photographs is quick and painless, with minimal worries about light, due to the quality of the image processing system Nikon has made for the D7000.
