Panimage have created a 10.4 inch digital photo frame called the PI1002DW, that retails at just under $200. The entire frame is 16 x 6 x 18 inches, which obviously allows for quite a lot of the size dedicated to frame rather than screen. The screen quality is excellent however, with a clear resolution of 1024 x 768 pixels and very bright and sharp colors.
This frame is one of the easiest that I have ever had the pleasure of using. Admittedly I would prefer the 1GB memory to be a little larger, but it accepts USB and almost all types of memory cards with a 6 in 1 memory card reader. I have several cameras with different makes of memory cards, but it's actually simpler to take the memory card out and put it in the photo frame then it is to try to upload pictures on the computer first. Moving photographs onto the digital frames memory via computer involves a USB connection and doesn't require any software to work.
Part of the appeal of the Panimage is that it's suitable for people who don't want to see ten of their photographs flash by in under an hour - you can program it to swap images for any duration up to 24 hours, which is the length of time that I have it permanently set on now. It also has a helpful on/off timer to ensure that you're not wasting energy by displaying photos when you're not likely to be in the room.
Bluetooth and wireless are perfect for streaming images to the frame, which is why the limited memory capacity is less of a problem than many other frames which don't have the same capability. I was surprised by the Panimage digital photo frame, which I thought would be much poorer quality than it actually is. It can play video and music, just like some of the more expensive alternatives, and the option to stream photos and set automatic timers corners a gap in the market perfectly.
