Best Buy was having a sale on l-left microwaves and I purchased their Panasonic NN-H665 for $142.29 on 8/18/08. Competing with the Panasonic was $120 for a Sharp. The Panasonic is very light-weight and, of course easy to move. The build quality seems right for the price. The design is a nice, neat, little compact piece of equipment that fits well on my small kitchen counter, and being white, harmonizes with my other appliances. The keypad has several real buttons, but the numbers are on a flat pressure point pad. It features very helpful defrost and accurate power settings, along with the usual special item settings and a clock. Easy to use, but we do have to watch what it says on frozen meal setting recommendations because this is a 1200 watt model and won't take as long to cook them as the package suggests. Our other food guessing settings have gotten much better since it came to live with us. We rely on this appliance for so many services and it always performs well. Knowing how to use a microwave should be part of a child's education, because once understood it becomes the most useful appliance in the house, short of heating and cooling equipment. Panasonic's performance is right up to snuff and we couldn't be without it for long. The positive points about this model begin with easy operation, going to expected results and finally ending with how easy it is to clean. The rotating plate is easily lifted off the pedestal it sits on and the circular rolling wheels are just lifted out of their depressed track. The light still operates after two years and it's been a household treasure for just as long. At this time, we've not discovered any bad traits, and think the Panasonic is the perfect solution for our life style.
The keypad on mine had dead keys out of the box in 2006. After warranty repair, unit worked fine for nine years until it quit. My two previous Amanas worked about 15 years each before scrapheaped.
