I sometimes go through periods where I'll stumble over my words...pronounce them funnily, confuse tenses, re start my sentences, mumble, etc etc...

But, it comes and goes. There are times where I can be quite articulate....

I wonder, do you have any idea why this would be? Why it would be an "on again off again" thing?

Secondly, any suggestions on how to not do it as much?

Or is it something where "if you have it, you have it"?

Happens if I go off a strictly healthy diet. It's an easy way to know if you are talking to an american or not since their average diet is pure chemical doused / treated garbage.

Too much caffeine , excited, hormonal or insecure.
Unsure of the topic or lying.
Brought up from childhood to say it one way. And trying to undo old habbits.

For me, this happens when I'm trying to quickly convey a thought and my mouth won't move as fast. I've learned to slow down speaking and that helps a lot. Watch the reporters on the news sometime. When they talk, they slow down the last few words in each sentence. Not only does that keep them from stumbling over their words, it has more impact.

I have at times when nervous. I can sound pretty goofy, catch myself and laugh. About 20 years ago, I was seeing someone who pronounced Canada, CAN-A-DUH. For some odd reason, I will still pronounce it that way.

I have this problem when I'm not on ADD/ADHD medication. Having a conversation is just difficult without it due to all my thoughts trying to come out of my mouth at once.
