Personally I think it's a lot lower. The media tries to state that 30% of the population is gay. I can believe that 30% of the actors/actresses might be, but I don't believe that 1 in 3 people are. I believe all of these stats are completely off and inflated because the outspoken few and while I know several posters here state they have had experiences or think it's way higher, I don't feel this is a general consensus of the entire US or the world in general.

I honestly have never had any interest whatsoever with the same sex, but before I am called a liar, I probably thought of the opposite sex way too much to have time to think of the same sex!

I am not going to throw out any statistics because 98.546% of them are made up to support some agenda anyway!

I've never heard that figure thrown around.. But.. Again, it's all up to definitions.

Kinsey is still the definitive study.. But.. It's 60 years old..

Quote:
The reports also state that nearly 46% of the male subjects had "reacted" sexually to persons of both sexes in the course of their adult lives, and 37% had at least one homosexual experience.
Now.. if anyone actually has a copy of the kinsey report and can go to p656 and see what the definitions of "reacted" and "experience" are..

Those numbers don't seem out of line, pending on what the definitions are. It certainly doesn't mean 46 or 37 percent of the population is gay.. It just means whatever the definition of "reacted" and "experience" are.

What if "Reacted" means a guy got a boner while watching hetero porn?

What if 'experience' includes simply talking about masturbation? Those numbers would seem pretty low.

Devil's in the details on this. If you shared a room with your brother growing up and rubbed one out while he was asleep in a bed across the room.. That might count as an 'experience'.

Mod cut: Quoted post deleted.

I was a wild one back in the day but never saw same sex people making out other than the "real" gay ones, no matter how drunk/high/happy they/we were.

I checked a females friends genitals once when I was around 11, just to make sure we have the same equipment, but that's it. Didn't touch it or even get very close. It could bite after all, you never know

I have no idea if the % is higher or lower than what the OP is guessing. Strictly intuitively speaking, I feel it is higher. Just this week, I watched a documentary that featured some testimony from teenage males in Muslim counties who admit to engaging in same-sex activities, even though they consider themselves straight (and despite it being against their laws). They said they do it to relieve sexual tensión and because the unmarried women their age ranges are sequestered and hidden away in their societies. So, if we are talking world percentages (including the prison population), the number surely must be higher.

Oh please, what a ridiculous excuse. If a man wants to "relieve sexual tension", he can just j*** off. He doesn't need to engage in same-sex activities.

Also, you never hear of young gay men who ever experimented with women just out of horniness. I'd venture to say that most gay men would be repulsed by the thought of doing anything of a sexual nature with a woman. They wouldn't even consider touching a woman. By the same token, I would also venture that most straight men are genuinely repulsed by the thought of sexual contact with another man. Why else would society be so homophobic?

This is a rather creepy question BTW.
Not true. I am gay, and I experimented sexually with many girls in high school. None since college though, and probably won't for the rest of my life. . I always knew I was gay but society pressures you into some things.

What's that got to do with experimentation? Chances are you did it just to hide your gayness. The teenaged guys that this topic is about never get pressured into screwing around with other guys.

I was just pointing out that you can be straight or gay and not be repulsed by the opposite sex from which you are attracted. I am very much a gay man, but I will still watch a straight porn if I like the guy. The female anatomy doesn't gross me out. I'm sure many straight males are not grossed out by looking at or touching other men.

Absolute best post quoted above. I know a lot people do things and then try to talk themselves into the idea that what they did many others are doing. I don't think it is common for a man to want to touch another man sexually or a woman/woman. You can tell yourself that if it makes you feel better. But, seriously, why on earth would you touch the sex organs of a same sex person if you aren't attracted to that set of organs.

I don't think it is common at all among heterosexuals to sexually touch same sex organs, etc.

I suspect that a lot of people, during those curious years from maybe 6 to 12 or so, experimented and played games with boys of the same age group. They weren't gays in training, simply curious kids who played show and tell with each other, more out of curiosity than sexual pleasure.

Women are more honest than men in that regard. I have had many women over the years tell me they experimented in high school or college, and most say they practiced their kissing skills on a girl friend. Most of them didn't turn out to be Lesbians, but they did have that period of curiosity and experimentation that they went through.

Men on the other hand will not admit to ANY of this, and feel it would make them look Gay if they ever breathed a word about it. But the term circle jerk didn't happen by accident.
