Spring is just around the corner. You should get some sunshine on Monday.
Somewhere in your city or town there is someone who can benefit from you doing them a good turn. Get yourself out there and see how many doors you can open for people, coffees you can buy for strangers, and smiles you can give to old guys and ladies.
Be the hope and motivation. Don't wait for it to visit you.
Think those loners who are living in the woods by their own choice. They made their life as they thought it is best for them. It is inside you, knowledge and desire, you just have to learn to find it, listen to it and living as it says
As a fellow sufferer, these are words that have helped me. Your mileage may vary.
This too shall pass.
You are playing the hand you were dealt, in the best way you know how.
What doesn't kill you makes you stronger.
Never compare your insides to other people's outsides.
A hot bath always helps.
Depression is like brain flu, it sucks when you have it, you feel like hell, but it eventually goes away.
I do more good in the world than I know. Smiling at someone today may have made a difference I'm not even aware of, and the ripples may have spread to I don't know how many others.
This is kind of silly, but when I'm really depressed, I give myself points for literally everything I do in a day, based randomly on how difficult it was. Like:
Get out of bed: 2 points
Shower: 25 points
Get dressed: 100 points
Load of laundry: 10 points
And then I total up the points and say, "I'm awesome!" Because it is totally awesome to get anything at all done when you are depressed, and I always do more in a day than I would give myself credit for if I weren't keeping score.
And I second the notion of watching dumb sitcoms, bloopers--anything that gets a laugh out of you. (Also, studies have shown that just pasting a smile on your face actually helps you to feel better,.)
Never give up. Keep searching for what you need. I type in subjects (that interest me & might give me hope) and the word-quote to find words of inspiration.
Last but not least, you don't deserve to live your life in pain
Keep going, keep trying, keep asking questions and you will get through... I speak from experience.
I am getting through my depression, learning what is behind it and feeling better everyday!
