As I age I keep finding there are many more life stages beyond the whole kid, teen, adult, middle aged, and senior divisions most people seem to have designated the life stages. But I've also found nobody ever seems to talk about all the between stages. Why is that? What hidden surprises have you found as you aged?

I still have a self-concept as being 17. It's great. There's nothing I can't imagine doing.

It seems to me that the in between stages are situational and not universal. Example: married life and post-divorce, pre-kids and empty nesters. Not everyone will have those, and those that do will have them at different times than others, but they definitely define different stages of life for some people.
