I've noticed this trend for years now. It seems people routinely want law enforcement to show up and solve all their petty disputes. This article pinpoints exactly why you should not do that.

People want to be outraged but THEY don't want to be the ones to do anything about it. No one feels connected or feels they have personal responsibility any more. And a ready excuse is that "you never know if they're crazy and will go off on you". Well, in some cases, ignoring is the best solution. But social media has taught us that if you're upset "you" need to DO something - which often means getting someone else involved to do it for you.

This is a big part. There's a thread currently in the non-romantic relationships forum that reflects exactly what I mean.
What I want to know is, when did white people calling the cops on innocent black people become a trend? It almost seems some white guy or gal decides to find an innocuous black person to get him/herself on video being stupid, as if that’s a thing now.
Oh wait—you mean this has been going on before? Like many times in the past century?
These people simply want a higher authority who has more power to be on their side. That's all.
