Hmm well it’s always hard to say, physically I’m in perfect health and shape so generally that aspect would be a 9 or so, only being a bit tired at times or sore may keep me from feeling the best. But mentally generally has been more like a solid 6-7, unhappy with the present but hopeful for the future.

For me 10 was when I graduated college (not excited about that, just happy to be done with the grind) or when I just finished directing my first feature. So I always want to get back to that point and I feel like in the past, I had that feeling of euphoria over achievement many more times than has happened in the last 6-7 years. I can’t complain much though, my life is pretty great it’s just that for me, if I’m not achieving significant things and moving forward to my goals, I don’t feel great about the sense of accomplishment. Living somewhere I hate has made me feel pretty bland and bummed a lot of the time, but I’m moving this year and that’s exciting. I would say since I made the decision this is definitely the year, I’ve been in a great mood ever since no matter what else has happened. A consistent 8-9 just knowing my life will improve it’s just a matter of time now. That has made a world of difference.

I think for me at least in life, the more I feel in control of my own destiny, the better I feel. So sometimes I think we all have to take control, figure out what makes us happy, and go for it no matter the obstacles otherwise you get stuck in a rut.

I'd say I'm an 8 or 9 most days except when it's snowing and blowing on a grey day early in the winter. I'm a fair weather person, so the weather affects me. Other than that, life is mostly good.

I’m the same way. That’s one big reason I’m moving from Portland to Las Vegas, can’t handle the bad weather anymore. There’s still a 3 month not-so-nice winter in Vegas but it’s mostly 50s and 60s and sunny during the day so not bad but not outdoor weather. At least it’s short enough that you can look forward to spring and be swimming by late March.

If I’m reading this correctly, you had a not so good childhood until you were mature enough to be on your own, make good decisions and then continued to improve your life and grow as a person.

I could be mistaken however that is what your numbers seem to indicate!

If we can learn from our past experiences we should be able to change and grow if we are self perceptive and wish to improve ourselves.

I pretty much am in that 9-10 range every day, mostly 10. Life is too short to waste it by dwelling on the negatives, so I tend to be pretty happy and upbeat every day. Sure, I have my aging aches and pains, but there are a whole lot of people who would gladly trade places with me, if I would take away their really serious problems.

You just have to find things to make you happy every day, it ain't that hard.

I prefer for me the word content. Finding that contentment. I'm happy when I see a new baby or a little toddler or a cute puppy or kitty, but for me it's contentment.

Ask my husband and he might tell you that I'm a tad on the crazy side which would rate me as a 6 or 7? Ask me personally and I'll tell you I'm about an 8 or 9 with a little crazy thrown in for fun.

Childhood = 7 - Great parents and grandparents. Great neighborhood friends. Not much confidence.
Teens = 4 - Awkward sci-fi artistic nerd in middle/high school in the 80's didn't mix. Just wanted left alone.
20's = 8 - Newly married and found true love. Had no money but were happy.
30's = 10 - Had kids and gave me purpose to provide for my family. Great friends. Job I could excel in. Best of of times.
40's = 9 - Same as above though minor dip as kids became teens. :P
50's (so far)= 6 - Kids grown and don't need dad. Wife seems content just watching TV and not adventuring anymore. I'm out of shape and hurt in spots now. Kinda bored.

Never felt the need to reduce my quality of life (or whatever this is) down to a number myself. What good does the exercise actually do? I know some people insist on "ranking" themselves against others in order to feel better. There's always going to be someone worse off than they are at any given moment.
