I just returned to Charlotte Harbor from an eight day working vacation in New England.
We spent the first four days with some friends whose parents own a house and 7 acres with a private beach directly on the Nantucket sound.

We went whale watching out of Provincetown and it was fantastic. The whales put on a show as if we were at sea world. They were breaching the surface, leaping into the air, for over an hour.

Many of you know that I originate from Arizona. We also got tickets to go see the Cardinals play the Patriots at Gillette Stadium. If you follow the NFL you know that day worked out pretty good for us.

And of course I have to work all week long to pay for it. But now we're back I hope to be out fishing the harbor at some point today.

I've attached one photo from our whale watching tour and I hope to have the rest up on my blog sometime this weekend. Check one more item off of my bucket list.

Very cool Pat! I grew up in Maryvale and remained in Arizona for 42 years before coming here in 2007.

Everyone, here's a link to my latest blog, if you want to see more whale watching pics and a brief video, as well as other pics from my Weekend in New England.

This afternoon my next-door neighbors and I finished the flats between Alligator Creek and Burnt Store.
Before I even got out of my canal I landed and released an 18 inch snook by trolling an x rap Plug at the short bridge.
At the Edgewater bridge I caught and released a Jack Cravelle.
I had a feeling it would be a nice afternoon.

On the flats we caught keeper speckled trout and Mangrove Snapper.
We released catfish and ladyfish. I saw the biggest Bonnet head shark I've ever seen. At first I thought it was a nurse shark until I saw the unmistakable rounded shovel nose. It had to go at least 5 feet long. I would've been in real trouble if he would've been my 10 Lb line.

We had to deal with several heavy showers and got absolutely soaked on the ride home and sundown. But the temperature was in the upper 70s and it was still a great time.

My new freezer chest is starting to fill up nicely. All fish on the flats were caught by fishing a live shrimp under a floating cork.

Nice report MA, thanks. It was a beautiful day, and I really wanted to get out on the flats, but we worked on taxes all day....not quite as much fun.
