I'm glad to hear you did so well on the Snook. I look forward to the day when I can catch a few of them. I have never caught one before, but hear they are quite the fighters.

After working Monday-Friday, 10 hours days, I was looking forward to fishing Saturday morning. Launched the kayak at 7:00. It was a bit of a slow start. I managed only 2 decent white trout in the 1st hour. I finally managed to find the school. The specs have been pretty much non-existant the last couple weeks, but the white trout have kept me busy. I was off the water by 11:15. I ended the day with 37 white trout, 3 lady fish (1 was 24 inches), 3 specs (1 19-inches) and a 25-inch sail cat. I was on call for work all day Saturday so didn't end up keeping any to take home. Hope at least some of you are getting out and catching some!

I've had a pretty varied week of fishing. My Saturday trip was cut to 1 1/2 hours by strong winds and threatening storm clouds. I managed 3 specks and 2 white trout in 1st 30 minutes, then only 1 speck in the last hour fighting the wind. I was able to get back out on Monday. It was 40 degrees when I got on the water at 7:30. I fished until 11:30. The specks were back and the white trout gone again. I ended the day with 15 specks (2 17-inches home for freezer), 2 sand trout, a little rat red and a sail cat. Are there any fish being caught down there?

Has fishing really been that bad down there? I was reading Waterline, and they said that there is hardly anyone on the water. The fishing here has remained pretty for trout. I've not found as many reds as I would like though. I've had a pretty good week or so. I ended up with 12 under sized specks on Friday and 16 specks on Saturday (1 over 16). I was on call Sunday, but managed to get in 1 1/2 hours fishing waiting on another possible case. I ended up trolling up a 17-inch and a 22-inch speck (given to some people that were b ank fishing. I ended up with 17 specks (2 keepers) and a 22-inch striped bass. I'd love to hear how some of you have been doing.

Default Still fishing

I haven't posted for awhile since unable to get anyone else to bite. The trout bite here slowed way down since the last time I posted. I haven't got any keepers recently and very few at all. I have switched tactics a bit and have caught a lot of bass (11-15 inches) and pickerel in the brackish creeks. I've managed a few reds also, but most have been 16-19 inches (I don't usually keep them until 22 inches or so because just not enough meat to kill them). I hope some of you have at least been getting some. Have they started moving into the channels yet?

Default Cant wait til April

The fishing here is slower, but still pretty good. Last weekend, I was able to get out a total of 9 hours over 3 days. I got a total of 16 trout, 4 bass and 2 pickeral. I was able to go Saturday from 730 to 330. I ended the day with 3 reds (32, 32 and 29-inches), 4 under 12-inch bass and a pickeral. My 3-day weekend has been cut short by this bitter cold! I amso ready to move further south.

Is there any concern about a fish kill, especially snook, with these low temperatures?

Not yet. If it lasts more than a week then there is the possibility of it.

Still some dead fishies showing up from the red tide out here. Currently at low-medium levels in the harbor and along the nearshore Gulf. Haven't seen any dead snook though. Mostly mullet, puffers, pinfish & other bait, etc....

Harbor water still cold 57. 8 today. Calm out today. Only a couple boats fishing. 4 small trout. Only one was keeper size and he got a break. Fish caught entrance to Alligator Creek. I usually have about 20 snook swimming around my snook light but since the cold water only 1 or 2 now.
