I'll buy the bait. Mike can buy the gas :-) haha. I forgot to get my castnet off my boat when I visited it at the shop today, and I'm not heading back that way for a few days, so I guess we'll just have to use shrimp and cut/frozen bait. Looking forward to a day on the water. It's been a couple of weeks (too long!!).

Too bad re the castnet, but shrimp is always on the menu. My impression is that BH keeps his engine in such perfect tune that we might end the trip with more gas than we started with - at least, that's my $$ hope :-)))

The truth is - I did end up with a lot more gas than when we started out this morning!

We did. Since there was not pressure - we hung out by marker 2 again. Caught a ton of Mackerel. HH caught the biggest fish. I caught the biggest thing - a full grown pelican. The hook was set in the hard part of his bill. I reeled him in, grabbed his beak and held it closed so I could safely remove the hook. He was released totally unharmed. A bit embarrassed - maybe - but since he kept hanging out with us - I don't think he was embarrassed either.

Overall it was a great day. Mike went home with some trout, HH went home with some mackerel, and I didn't have to clean any fish when I got home!

HH - thanks for helping me clean up when we got back!

Well done HH. Thanks for a great day on the boat Jon! Ended the day with pan fried trout fillets, Louisiana tartar sauce, pineapple salsa, and Asian slaw.....and a couple of ice cold beers.

HH made a fish fry out of it, and had home made tartar sauce too! He snapped a picture and sent it to me, and it looked awesome!!

Fun day!

We might be able to make that mid-week exception on July 4...that's a Wednesday and I'll be home.

Glad you guys had such a good time. I will try to be part of the next shoot out...
Been real busy around here....Had a couple of old timers lose there small outboard on
their sailboat..They were right across the canal trying to deal with that current using
just their sail, no way. Had to drop the flats boat in and tow them home, about 2
miles up the canal.....watched them for about 15 minutes and couldn't take it any longer.
My good deed for the day, and about time!
