being that Indian food is so popular back in England, the past 2 and a bit years have been a bit of an oasis for us. I have 'topped up' on my visits back to the UK but Mrs S has been deprived

we tried one place in sarasota....below average, then we found another next to Sarasota memorial which was ok, so we were getting used to not getting proper curry...until

we discovered a hidden gem -Indian Spice opposite Merchants Crossing in Englewood.

Apparently its owned by an English couple who, like us not being able to find good curry, decided to open their own place, and DAMN its good.

for any Brits , its as close as you can get to 'authentic' curry. and for anyone wanting to give curry a try -this place has our total recommendation

popadums (giant crisps -er potato chips) spot on
chicken tikka masala (most popular dish in UK) excellent
pilau rice -as good
chiken dopiaza - very nice

you will not regret it

We'll have to give it a try. Been going up to Sarasota when we get the urge; almost a two hour round-trip drive. Thanks for posting the recommendation.

We love Indian food, and being from Balt / Washington, there are a lot of great ethnic places to choose from.
We will have to check it out - SOON!
Thanks for the recommendation!! - That's what this site is all about!

I'm glad you clarified that! I would have been shocked to find that out after driving there, anticipating a nice sit-down dinner.
