we are currently on Verizon but pay silly money

we could get ATT for $30-40 a month less in total BUT have heard bad things about coverage.

Any ATT users with good/bad things to say ?

This is kind of ancient info but up to when Hurricane Charley hit we had ATT. That included driving over here a lot from the East Coast and often we lost service in the center of the state. After Charley hit we didn't have cellular service at our house for about a month while my neighbors with Verizon had good coverage because Verizon brought in temp and portable cell sites. So next contract we switched to Verizon and have been very happy with the service. The only dead spot we found was in Sanibel but have heard they have a new tower there and coverage is good.
It will be interesting to hear what you do and if you do change how much of a savings it is for you. My story was so long ago that perhaps AT&T is running better in Florida now.

I have a Verizon business account, so maybe I get a better rate, but I have to say I've had absolutely zero problems with Verizon, both voice and data, anywhere in the country. My wife and daughter's AT&T account, not so much - no huge issues, but "zero problems" is hard to match.

I have had AT&T for 19 years, travel a lot both domestic and internationally.

I guess that's all I need to say.

Look hard at your plan. We dropped unlimited data after we looked at how much we were actually using, cut our AT&T bill by $50 a month.
