There must be younger people here and abouts , but -I- never really see them. Generally speaking, I have 40 neighbors (couples) .. of those, 38 are retired.. My brother and his wife live at most, a couple miles away and again, and anyone can buy in these "Neighborhoods" yet in their neighborhood as well , Very Few Work. The Kids desire to live on the water 2000-3000sqft etc etc etc
Are there places in SWF where 40-50 y.o. people dominate the population like 55-75 do here? I have a Daughter and a Son-in-law DINKs who are considering relocation to CC or there abouts. Yes for sure they will find things to do here, but will they have much of a social life here in CC? ( They Presently live 45 miles outside Chicago and they have at least 3 maybe 4 locations under consideration.) We would LOVE for them to be close by, however I fear it could be a social desert for them. Any advice?

DINK's .. just in case you forgot.. Dual Income No Kids

Unfortunately with what I know about Florida, east coast seems more attractive to younger adults, don't really know why. Maybe more job opportunities? Even though the west coast is dominated by retirees, there is still a need of young professionals to staff all the services for them, maybe they just need to find the social outlets and activities for their age group. I guess that's the same no matter where you live.

Yes it appears you have pretty well nailed it. They have NO Desire to live in or around Miami and this side really tends to have a lot of retirees. The Son in law will continue working for who he now works for.. He just needs a Major Airport close by. The Daughter is in Management at a Major Hospital and she is fine if she finds something and they are fine if she doesnt ... I think I will continue to just pretty much, stay out of it..

You guys need to get out to the bars and restaurants in Downtown Punta Gorda after 9pm

The old people are in bed and the youngsters come out to play.

One of the things I like about PG is that age doesn't seem to matter young and old socialize very well together.
